HOW CAN HEALTH AT EVERY SIZE(SM) HELP ME?

Is your life on hold while your strive for a "goal weight"?  Research shows fat's role in health is exaggerated.  People of all sizes can make choices that support fitness and health.

"Today I will be good to myself." is the essence of Health At Every Size (sm). Moving our bodies, savoring foods we like and respecting ourselves are all elements that lead to health and greater happiness.

Accept and care for yourself by listening to your body's signals.  Enjoy food and activity for themselves, not as weight loss tools.

SHIFT YOUR FOCUS FROM WEIGHT TO HEALTH

The Basic Principles of Health at Every Size ℠ as promoted by this Meetup Group are:

1. Accepting and respecting the diversity of body shapes and sizes.

2. Recognizing that health and well-being are mult-dimensional and that they include physical, social, spiritual, occupational, emotional, and intellectual aspects.

3. Promoting eating in a manner that balances individual nutritional needs, hunger, satiety, appetite, and pleasure.

4. Promoting individually appropriate, enjoyable, life-enhancing physical activity, rather than exercise that is focused on a goal of weight loss.

Based on these guidelines, we have two primary rules in this group:

1) No talking about weight loss or calorie restrictive diets

2) No negative or judgemental comments about any body -or anybody- of any size or shape.
