Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand III

At this meetup we'll continue with Leonard Peikoff's "Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand"

This brilliantly conceived and organized book is based on a
lecture course given by Dr. Leonard Peikoff in 1976, entitled
"The Philosophy of Objectivism." The lectures were attended by
Ayn Rand, who helped prepare them and also joined Peikoff in
answering questions. Ayn Rand said of these lectures: "Until or
unless I write a comprehensive treatise on my philosophy, Dr.
Peikoff's course is the only authorized presentation of the
entire theoretical structure of Objectivism--that is, the only
one that I know of my own knowledge to be fully accurate."

For this meeting we'll cover:

Chapter 2:
The Senses As Necessarily Valid 39
  Sensory Qualities As Real 44
  Consciousness As Possessing Identity 48
The Perceptual Level As The Given 52
The Primary Choice As The Choice To Focus Or Not 55

    Pretty good as usual.

As always, a good discussion, mostly on-topic. I like the idea of setting up our questions around the table when we begin and then taking the points in turn.

Looking forward to this. The usual format? We each bring a topic or question or point from the reading, gather them at the start of the meeting, and move forward from there. This chapter presents much in 15 pages.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
