There is a generation (and I'm in it) of whom you can assume at least a passing knowledge of every track on the Derek and the Dominos' 1970 double album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs". According to wikipedia this album "is often regarded as Eric Clapton's greatest musical achievement". Following are links to some of the 12 tracks on the album, along with the composers.

Bobby Whitlock, one of the Dominos, is playing at the Saxon Pub Sunday, 6/6 $10...a pittance compared to the value of the show. The show is advertised to start at 6:00, but Bobby frequently start 5-10 minutes early, and the opening of the show is typically excellent. He is usually accompanied by wife Coco Carmel. I don't expect him to perform Layla, but I've seen him do the first four songs below in Saxon Pub shows, and the rest I threw in FYI. Enjoy and I hope to see you Sunday! Be prompt...Bobby will be. Anyday (written by Clapton/Whitlock) Thorn Tree in the Garden (Whitlock) Why Does Love Got to be So Sad? (Clapton/Whitlock) Tell the Truth (Clapton/Whitlock) Have You Ever Loved a Woman? (Billy Myles) Little Wing (Jimi Hendrix)

and finally, not that you don't already know it: Layla (Clapton/Gordon)

and skip to 1:50 in the below to hear the famous original 7-note riff that Clapton lifted and sped up to make Layla: As the Years Go Passing By (Albert King)
