Tommy Landry Presents

Live WordPress Demo

This is part 1.5 of a WordPress series:

Wordpress logo

Part 1 was at the Library facilitated by Pat Ramsey and Shelly Kochhar. This turned into a great extended Q and A session.

Part 1.5 will be a live demonstration presented by Tommy Landry. Tommy will start off by talking about what a CMS is and how WordPress fits into the market. Then, he’ll dive right into a fresh install of WordPress and walk you through the basics you need to get off and running with a new blog or website. This will cover everything from managing the general settings to choosing themes, selecting plugins, building pages, and posting content to the blog directly. Join us and get your un-answered questions answered. Walk away with the ability to get your blog set up and running in the shortest time possible!

Part 2 will be SEO for WordPress presented at the Flying Saucer facilitated by Austin SEO.

Here are some of the plugins we talked about. They have been helpful to me but make your own judgment. I'm not sure how they interact with themes and other plugins.

More good info and nice folks. The shared resources, colleagueality, expertise and experiences are invaluable. And Scott is super consistent about sending out more resources after the meeting, like Pixlr below. This meeting always strikes the balance between networking and sharing info, expertise and resources. Many thanks to Tommy, Scott and Richard for making this available to us.
