12 pm - 2 pm: Since I (Emily) dropped the ball on this and it was unclear which day we were doing the toy-making and which day was the bird ownership/socialization stuff, and I'm only just now getting around to updating/clarifying the weekend before, I figured we could start a little early on Sunday and have a very casual lunch Q&A recap session before we start the toy-making. Everyone is welcome to bring their own food, and we can sit around and discuss whatever questions people might have about socialization or anything we discussed the day before in the bird ownership class. Really, we can just discuss whatever bird-related questions people have. That way people who missed out on Saturday but wanted to participate in that can still get a little bit of it, and those who did attend but had further questions can get more of their questions answered.
2 pm - whenever: TOY-MAKING WORKSHOP!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my, how we all love our toy-making workshops! And since I've missed every single one this year, I'm particularly excited about it! Woo-hooooooo!!!! Feel free to bring whatever toy-making supplies you might have, or just bring yourselves. We have some super creative folks in our group who would be happy to show you the ropes, or you can just be like me and throw together whatever. Either way, we're going to have fun!
Here is a list of some ideas of what to bring to make toys with:
* coffee filters
* wax-free paper cups (emphasis on wax-free!)
* raffia or hemp string
* finger traps
* tamale wrappers
* tissue paper, napkins, cardboard, brown packaging paper, etc.
* syringe cases (you can get these for free from your vet, as they are usually thrown away)
* bird-safe beads, plastic or wood, as long as they are too big to swallow
* leather strips and scraps
* blocks or scraps of untreated wood
* heavy duty sewing needles
* hole puncher
* scissors
* marine-grade stainless steel nuts, bolts, screws, washers, chains, bells, etc.
* toilet paper / paper towel rolls
*paper bags
* popsicle sticks
* to-go boxes and coffee/drink holders that are made out of undyed, recycled paper (examples of places that use these products: Starbucks, Mother's, Hyde Park Grill). NO STYROFOAM OR DYED PAPERS, PLEASE!
If you can think of any other suitable, bird-safe items, feel free to bring them along as well!
***REMINDER - - THIS WILL BE OUR LAST TOY MAKING WORKSHOP THIS YEAR!

I wish I could come to this - I have no idea if my methods were/are conventional or not. Would like to have had a forum to learn and discuss.
