Sad news: the baby died. :( So, we don't need anyone to feed the baby now. She is doing everything to try to get the mama back. In the meantime, she has the eggs and the daddy bird in a cage outside, but on a shaded porch area. Hopefully between the dad and the warm day, the eggs will stay viable until we can find a more long-term solution.I don't know how well eggs do on a heating pad, as I've never done that myself. Anyone else have any input? On Sun, Apr 1, 2012 at 1:40 PM, Melisa <[address removed]> wrote:
Oh, and silly question but we're kind of broke - anybody have a heating pad I could borrow? I'm assuming I could use like a tupperware box?On Apr 1, 2012, at 1:37 PM, Melisa wrote:Can the eggs survive with the heating pad method if they're about to hatch?

I always just used a plastic box with a heating pad set on the lowest setting with a towel over the top of it. Then as soon as they started getting their feathers in, I pulled the heating pad and started using bedding instead. I'm not telling you to do it that way; I'm just saying that you don't need a brooder to successfully raise babies. We DO need an incubator for the eggs, though. :( Anyone have one?

All of my supplies were gallery of pets. I am set up for feeding. I doubt anybody has a brooder but maybe some sort of heating pad setup? I'm assuming the chick is days old?

Right on the heels of the lost African Grey, I was just contacted by a woman who has a Lovebird who was sitting on eggs and raising one chick. She seems to have given up on getting the Lovebird back, but it is possible that we could find the bird, if the owner is up for giving it a whirl. In the meantime, we have some orphaned eggs and a baby. I can handfeed the baby if no one else can, but since I don't have an incubator, I can't do anything about the eggs. Does anyone have an incubator who could take the eggs? And if you want to hand-feed the baby, that would be cool, too. And if the owner decides to try to find her Lovebird, do we have any volunteers to try to
