WHERE CENTRAL TEXAS BIRD OWNERS GO!

The Austin Parrot Society is founded on a principle of community, education and support. We are a group of like minded parrot owners in the Central, TX area, who are dedicated to improving the welfare of their companion parrots through education.

OUR MISSION:

Austin Parrot Society is dedicated to providing a non-judgmental, supportive community for any and all bird lovers in Central Texas.  We are here to share information, resources, ideas, and friendship.  We are also willing to assist in finding foster or adoptive homes for birds in the Central Texas area who are in need, as well as refer people who are interested in finding a new bird to reputable breeders, rescue groups, and other resources who can help them to get started on the right foot.  We do not believe in engaging in the breeding vs. rescue debate, as we believe such philosophies are counterproductive to creating a warm, welcoming, and open avian community.  To borrow a phrase from the Christians, "A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand," and getting caught up in arguments rather than finding a common ground serves only to discourage and drive away the public at large, who could potentially both learn from and contribute to the avicultural community.  For these reasons, we welcome avian enthusiasts from all walks of life and encourage everyone's voice to be heard and listened to with respect and an open mind.

We meet every third Sunday of the month @ 2pm. Our meeting home is the AGE Building in Austin.
