The wind is out of the south, a trip to Carlos and Charlies is Short, easy and can be fun.
So I'll sail there and either climb up drink a couple and sail back or if someone bring some I'll just sail around some more.

"Skipper brought no refreshments". How DARE anyone say this in a review where a skipper was kind enough to invite you for a day sail?
Common custom IF RACING is the skipper buys the beer for the crew and the crew brings the food. IF CRUISING the Captain MAY provide refreshments but it is usually up to each individual to bring their own (feel free to ask the Captain ahead of time for their suggestions / input).
Also, when racing (especially) or cruising remember the Captain is under NO OBLIGATION to teach you to sail (other than perhaps to provide you with safety instructions).
Normal monthly maintenance (does not include the cost of buying the boat) runs about $500 (insurance 50, slip fees about 250, gas and oil 50, routine maintenance 150). These are AVERAGES not what everyone spends every single month.
It is also nice to assist the Captain with clean-up post cruise (and to thank them) before going home. Not all will need / want it but they will appreciate the offer.

In this case, I was going to buy the beer when we got to the Bar, but my crew wanted to sail, so they brought their own beer. All my crew helped with cleanup and most brought their own refreshments.
As to Hector's comments I wasn't planning on training anyone. I was planning on sailing and having a good time. I did. I've even had people ask if I was going again to see if they could go.

Neutral ratingWe were overbooked and crowded. One had to sit below in the cabin.
Skipper brought no refreshments, offered little training/explanations.
Sail plan was abandoned, we sailed around the lake.I give this a C+ at best for a meetup.
I had a great time and Tom the skipper let me take the tiller for a while. I got some good training for my second time on a sailboat. Thanks again to Tom and all my crewmatesDavid

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
