Hiking at Balcones Canyonlands Wildlife Preserve

Come hike with us at the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. There is no entrance fee for the public trails, however no pets allowed on this one since it's a wildlife preserve.

We will meet at the Target parking lot on 183 & Great Hills Trail at 11:00 to organize car pooling since there is limited parking at the refuge.

We should arrive at the headquarters at 11:45 and then make our way to the Doeskin Trail at noon. Afterwards, we'll go to Chuy's for food & drinks.

DIRECTIONS:  The refuge Headquarters is northwest of Austin, Texas.  It is located on FM 1431 approximately five miles west of Lago Vista, one mile east of the intersection with Cow Creek Road/CR328.

For those that are driving, we'll be heading up 183 North into Cedar Park, then left on FM1431. It's about 26 miles to Camp Balcones Springs, which will be on the left. Just after that take a right on FM1174 and go until you reach Cow Creek. My number is[masked] if anyone gets lost. If you do get lost, please watch out for the bears.

I love a good nature hike, but what is the pace/intensity? I'm far from in the best shape right now. Lol!
