6:20pm Bat Costume Contest Prize $200 - Bring your best bat costume and enter the contest! Last year the winner was chosen by applause.
What will you see at BatFest this year? 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats emerging from under the bridge at dusk, 2 stages with live music, more than 75 arts & crafts vendors, delicious food and drinks, fun children’s activities, a bat costume contest and other bat activities, ALL FOR FREE!!
Because bats are wild animals, it is hard to predict exactly when the emergence will begin but the flight usually begins between 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. The emergence can last up to ½ hour as 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats head out for their nightly flight. Bat Conservation International will have a festive booth on the bridge helping celebrate Austin’s favorite furry flying friends!

Bike Parking: We have Bicycle Rack to secure your bike.

What you can and cannot bring
Items you can bring to Bat Fest:
2) Bicycles parked outside the event on bike racks.
4) Baby items: strollers, baby food and drink, etc.
5) Pets (Please remember if you bring your pet to take it down to the park for restroom breaks).
6) Ice Chest with Ice only
7) I would bring some bottles of water.
Items you cannot bring to BAT FEST.
1) Beer, wine, or liquor
2) Food and Drinks (each person can bring 2 sealed bottles of water)
