I am the Co-organizer of the "Authentic Steppers of Connecticut".
As a individual who seeks to develop in this Art Form of Chicago Steppin, I don't want to label or classify myself to any level of the dance, except that I am a Student of the Art of Steppin. Learning the Art of Steppin, for me, is always continuous process. I have learned from a few of the high profile Chicago Steppin' Instructors in the country and I have also learned from those steppers with the least amount of experience. "Each One, Teach One", is my philosopy. I believe that everyone has something to offer in the world of Steppin, regardless of one's skill level of dance. That is the true beauty of this dance.
Our expectations and hopes are that, we as instructors of Authentic Steppin, are able to reach people and spread the Art of Steppin to those who have a genuine interest and love to learn this dance. It is a life style. People do eat, sleep and breath Steppin. We love this style of dance and we hope that you would too. But that could only happen if one is willing to commit and dedicate themslves to practice, practice and more practice. In addition to becoming sucessful instructors, we also hope that people use this Meetup and as a means to Socialize Networking to meet others and to become involved with the activities of steppin that go on through the country, state by state. It is with all intents and purposes, that we promote and teach Chicago Steppin in its Authentic form and style, just as we have learned and continue to practice. Our goal is to reach out to the community of folks who want to learn this unique style dance of Chicago. We love this dance.
Hello my name is Harvey Banner aka Blaque Knight. I developed a interest in Chicago Steppin, when R. Kelly came out with the music video, Step in The Name of Love, in 2003. I have been a student to the "Art of Chicago Steppin" since 2008.
