"Mississippi is a film noir shot in dazzling color, a Hitchcock movie with the soul of a Jean Renoir drama." - Boston Globe
Free outdoor movie screenings are a welcome New York City tradition. This summer's offerings include flicks from almost every genre—including blockbusters, indie films and cult classics. Movies like Top Gun, The Goonies, Silver Linings Playbook and Argo are entertainment enough, but they make for an even better evening with iconic sights like the Brooklyn Bridge and the Lower Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.

There are so many gratis movie series in the five boroughs that it can be difficult to keep track of them all—but we're here to help. Below is a schedule of free film screenings throughout the City, organized by day of the week. Unless otherwise noted, all take place outside and start at sundown, typically around 8:30pm. So grab a blanket, bring some snacks and enjoy cinema in the open air (and check back frequently for updates).
