Tourettes Without Regrets

Tourettes Without Regrets has been (dis)gracing the Oakland art scene for over 14 years. Billed as The Fight Club of Underground Art, this month's show is F*ck Valentine's Day.

Whether you love or hate the Hallmark holiday, you know it's going to be a good show when the formerly "all ages" boundary-pushing program is now 21+. Bring your ID, but leave your ability to be offended at home.

This variety show typically features stand-up comedy, beat boxing, slam poetry, freestyle and dirty haiku battles, acrobatics, burlesque, fire breathing...pretty much anything and everything. I haven't been to the special February program, but photo evidence from last year looks promising.

Tickets are $10.

Here are highlights from December's program:

Note: The program runs from 8:30 to 12:30. People who arrive via BART will have to leave before the end of the show.

Am I the only one who was shocked by the lack of rubber gloves or hand washing for the second set of volunteers?

This was a wild show. Thanks for joining me despite the long wait to get in and seating issues. Next time I'll pack earplugs and plan on standing. :)

I see that this event is full but can I bring a friend & she just buy her ticket individually at the door?

TWR is a public event, so you are welcome to come and bring as many people as possible. The cap is there only because it's a challenge rounding up and interacting with a large group. I have a feeling some people will drop out this afternoon, so you should be able to officially RSVP for her later on if you like.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight. I'll be wearing a grayish blue "Robot Dance Contest" t-shirt, black jacket, and gray pants.

This will be a popular performance, so please arrive on time or early. We will get in line promptly at 7:30. I recommend showing up early to find the group; I plan on arriving around 7:20. Please keep your RSVP up to date so it's easier for us to find each other. Thanks.

We will be meeting near the line to pay and get in. I'll post my contact info tomorrow.

I was planning on getting a drink at Beer Revolution which is a few blocks from the show. Let me know if anyone is interested in meeting there before the show.

Is there parking near there or would it be best to ride the Bart? Anyone carpooling?

    February 2, 2014

    • Josh

Parking all over the place there.

I went to last month's show and it was ballsy and crude and completely amazing. FYI, we got in line for tickets at 7:30 and just barely got seats - and it's a long show to stand for. Full bar inside, as well.

Do we need to buy tickets in advance?

    January 22, 2014

    • David

No, they are bought at the venue. There was a single ticket/entrance line last time I was there, which admittedly was a while ago. I recommend bringing $10 in cash to be safe.
