Let's go for a hike at Redwood Regional Park, which is home to Oakland's very own redwood forest.
We'll meet at the Skyline Gate Staging Area and set out on a 5.3-mile easy-to-moderate hike. Bay Area Hiker has a guide to a shorter hike that will give you an idea of what to expect. Although subject to change, we'll plan on taking this route.
If we stick exactly to the planned 5.3-mile route, the hike will take 2 hours plus stop time. We'll admire the scenery along the way and pause for a snack break.
What to bring: Water, snacks, and hiking shoes/boots. Although the trees offer some shade, sun protection (sunblock, hat, sunglasses, etc.) is recommended. Also, please be aware that poison oak may be present in some locations. You are responsible for your own well being.
Optional: After the hike, we will get lunch together. Location TBD but most likely in the nearby Montclair neighborhood.
Carpooling: The trailhead is not accessible by public transit. Use this carpool document if you would like to arrange a ride.
