Planting Fields Arboretum

  • Apr 5, 2014 · 12:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This beautiful Arboretum has many paths through gardens and mangroves. Saturdays walk at the Planting Fields Arboretum can be somewhat challenging in spots. I've changed the route through the woods to accommodate everyone.  After the walk we'll enter the green house where they keep all their exotic flowers and plants. (Estimated distance 3 miles.) Hope you'll join us.---Lee

The Arboretum is a beautiful location for a walk. The walk was energizing and invigorating, and it was so good to be outdoors with minimal outer clothing, as the weather was great. I also enjoyed sitting on the outside patio of the restaurant overlooking the beautiful woods.

Great walk/hike with the promise of spring-seeing some flowers and buds on the trees made it feel as though spring might actually be here soon!

Hi everybody. Todays walk was great, so invigorating. Everyone was so happy to see flowers in bloom, a reminder that summer is really around the corner.
Joe is fine. He had two stitches in his left hand between his thumb and forefinger. He cut himself using a masonary saw cutting bricks, trying to rebuild our landscaping that we lost in Hurricane Sandy. I guess a man's gotta due what a man's gotta do.
See you all during the week.

A very nice day for our walk through the Planting Fields Arboretum and the paths through the garden and the mangroves. Walking through the green house where they keep all their exotic flowers and plants were beautiful as well. Nice turnout and a great group and a lot of good conversations and fun ones too. Lunch was good, soup and a cookie. Fun day and it was good seeing everyone.

Great place for walking. Grounds were either flat or slightly hilly . Magnificent old trees (great for climbing) . Flowers were not yet in bloom but the Rhododendrons were budding . Loved the orchids in the greenhouse . Perfect day for walking !

Another beautiful park in the NYS system...with the added bonus of flourishing Greenhouses and a very nice indoor/outdoor snack bar/restaurant. Later in the Spring the grounds will come alive with flowers and flowering trees and shrubs. Can't wait to go back again!
