The Business Analysis development group provides a regular forum for business analysts to meet and discuss the tools and techniques we use to do develop our BA skillset. The meeting stretches beyond a fortnightly meeting to support one another in various activities including BPMN2.0 use, EA use, mentoring, career advice and development as well helping those to get certified with CCBA or CBAP. In many ways it has evolved into a BA support group as much as a BA development group.
The group discussions are aligned with the principles and concepts in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge book (or BABOK) which helps to bring clarity to the various viewpoints that something as simple as 'Business Requirements' can bring.
The focus of the group is about providing practical application and examples of our work that has enabled us to get great results and outputs that work for our stakeholders.
This group is hosted by Business Analysts from the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) and the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) with the endorsement and support of the NZ chapter of the IIBA. The group has these amongst its objectives:
• To discuss BA related issues and challenges (that may or may not be directly related to the content within the BABOK®).
Establish a collaborative BA community within the Wellington region.
Prerequisites: The group is open to all those currently employed as a Business Analyst. IIBA membership is not compulsory. It can be helpful to have a copy of the BABOK.
In terms of assistance with the process of applying, studying and accessing resources for your CCBA/CBAP we also have attendees with CBAP who can help you, but this will be done outside of these meetings.
