Authors Go Public Sebastopol: eBook Production Tools and Tips

North Bay BABS will be hosting the first-ever Authors Go Public meetup in Sonoma County this month! Hosted by Anne Hill and Suzanna Stinnett, our agenda includes a distinguished panel of experts on how to create ebooks from your content, whether it is all text or graphics-rich.

Tonight's event will focus on the tools of ebook production, and will feature a panel of experts in creating art books as well as fiction and nonfiction. Anne will moderate the panel, which is currently comprised of:

• Suzanna Stinnett, founder of BABS and author of numerous nonfiction ebooks as well as a new fictional series, Cherry Tales;

• Alexis Fajardo, cartoonist and author of the Kid Beowulf graphic novels which are available in several different digital formats;

• Joel Orr, author of several ebooks on writing and publishing, with experience using several different conversion services;

• Blake Webster, ebook conversion pro, author, and website developer.

Authors Go Public meetings are designed to help bloggers and authors find the best ebook production tools, and develop cutting-edge marketing plans to help sell their quality ebooks.

    I was exposed to several layers of the epub process through different speakers. Questions from the group also gave me important food for thought about my own ebook publishing.

    Could have been two meetings - one for the techies who want to know the nuts & bolts of how to epub and another for content providers who want to find a reputable person or company to pay to do it at a reasonable cost. I'd love to hear more personal experiences. Then there are the writers who want to do both print on demand and epub. It's a jungle out there!

    Great meeting, lots of useful information on publishing ebooks. Guest panelists shared some great tips too. May need larger location if meetings stay this size though as it got a bit crowded int here this time.

    It looks like I can't make it tonight after all. I'm disappointed! But it looks like there are plenty of folks to make a lively meeting. I hope this topic gets scheduled again in the near future. There is clearly lots of interest, and I do hope to attend if I can!

    Please check the detailed instructions on the meetup page for this event. It can be hard to find the room, since you enter from the hallway behind the first row of buildings. The Kitchen also faces the back yard, in case you're still lost.

    Is anyone going to the meeting from Santa Rosa by way of Hall Road? I am having a transportation issue and live at the corner of Hall and Sanford, a popular shortcut to Sebastopol.

    In which building is the Kitchen room? It's a huge campus.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
