Backabush is going back to the Alps -

this time to do the TOUR DU MONT BLANC!

There can be few high mountain treks in the world as beautiful and iconic as the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB). This is a chance to complete one of the Alps' great classic treks and offers plenty of adventure within a two week holiday.

This famous circuit explores the mightiest mountain range in Western Europe and offers wold class scenery. You can expect landscapes on an epic scale - glaciers, jagged peaks, towers of rock and great expanses of snow.

Our plan is to take our time and really do this route justice as it passes through France, Italy and Switzerland. Over 14 days we will journey over high passes into 3 countries and sleep in delightful Alpine villages or in high mountain refuges. We have even planned 2 rest days into the itinerary to allow tired feet to recover and if you don't need the rest there are plenty of hikes or sight-seeing to be done!

After flying to Geneva and taking the bus to the Chamonix Valley our journey on foot begins and ends in Les Houches in an anti-clockwise direction. This is the perfect way to get the best out of this once in a lifetime mountain adventure.

It is important to note that the Tour du Mt Blanc involves multiple days of trekking in high mountain terrain. Whenever possible we intend to take the high route variations of the classic circuit. For this reason the trip is best suited to fit hikers and the group size will be kept small at no more than 8 people.

The world class mountain scenery on this trek was to be expected but the snow storms, lightning bolts and icy slopes were not what I had at first pictured in my mind. It really turned into a true mountain adventure and I couldn't think of a better bunch of people to share it with. Thanks everyone for a truly wonderful trip! :-)
