Mt. Wrightson

Winter ascent of Mt. Wrightson!

Stats: 10.8 miles/4,000 ft elevation gain

Old Baldy trail both up and down.

Looks like the weather this weekend should be pretty nice, but it will still be chilly/cold at this elevation. Prepare accordingly! Bring extra warm layers!

There's a possibility of snow/ice remaining on top.

Bring plenty of water, snacks food for a long strenuous hike like this.

As always, HIKE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Weather update: The weather for Sunday during the day. still looks pretty good...20% chance. However the NWS calls for snow levels to drop down to 8,000ft on Saturday night with 2-5 inches of snow possible. I'm still up for going, but if you're not prepared for these conditions please update your RSVP accordingly.

    Hi Joel,

I see that I missed being able to sign up for this hike. I also see that there doesn't appear to be a a wait list signup ?

    Couple questions please:

    1) Will you be adding a waitlist signup ?

Bob: waitlist is up. My pace is usually 2-2.5 mph

Joel, Thanks for feedback ! -- I did this hike late last year with Paul. Using the Super Trail / old Baldy combination -- I took a little over 7 hours. I am a bit stronger now but... a 2 MPH average would make this hike 5 1/2 hours. For a hike with 4,000' gain, that starts @ 5,400, I wouldn't be able to keep with your pace. "Maybe" later in the year when I am stronger ;-) -- Thanks ! -- Bob

Hey Joel what route are you taking up this time?

Old baldy each way....unless we find a compelling reason to deviate :)
