We are a group of 500 sea kayakers who live throughout the Bay Area and beyond. We like to paddle and explore everything from sloughs, to bays, to the open ocean. Our interests range from flat water paddling, to kayak-surfing, expeditions, and playing in the rocks. We like to eat and socialize, to learn and share paddling skills, and to deepen our knowledge about our environment. Many lasting relationships have started on a BASK trip.
BASK members have organized expeditions to Alaska, Baja, British Columbia, Chile, Fiji, Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti and more. Although most trips are initiated by one person, all trips are cooperative efforts with responsibilities shared by all participants. BASK does not supply boats or equipment, although some members may be willing to share their equipment. We have an annual month-long skills clinic, and specialized clinics on an irregular basis.
Most events are announced on our email list or posted to our online calendar. You have to be a member to participate in on-the-water events and paddles. Cost of membership is $25/year. Our monthly meetings are open to the public. The meetings average 60 attendees and include food, libations, a speaker, club news, and information about upcoming events.
