Six Year Anniversary

It was six years ago when Ariem Anthony started BADC on May 17, 2008.  Over the years, membership climbed to around 400, where it has hovered for the last few years.

This drum circle will commemorate the starting and long term survival of the group. Are you a member from way back then? Please come and join us.

I chose the 16th because I can't do a circle on the 17th. Sunset is at 8:10pm so we should have almost two hours to drum before it gets too dark.

I changed the start time to 6pm for the (bring your own) picnic. We'll eat, talk, plan, share stories, and "unofficially" maybe do some drumming. The official drum circle starts at 7pm.

Use the parking lot near the intersection of Paseo Padre Parkway and Mission View Drive. We'll be on the covered performance stage if it is not already in use. Bring a chair or something to sit on. Restrooms are available in the park and dogs are allowed.

Please RSVP if you are planning to attend. I hope to see another good sized group so we can have some lively jams.

6pm : informal picnic (no potluck). Bring your own food and drink. 7pm (or when we are done eating) : drum circle.

George: We sometimes have a conga or two. Please don't worry if you are the only conga player. We welcome all percussion instruments.

I had so much fun with you all tonight. What a great group of people. The park was beautiful, the weather perfect , the music grand!! Just when you think it cant bet better .. Paul gets up and dances up a storm and people walking by feel the draw to come on over for a closer look and feel of drum circle magic.. !! who can blame them!!!. Thanks everyone!!

Officially, I think we had 11 members and guests, and 5 others who joined us. The group was not too big and not too small. There were several new faces but most had drumming experience. We played until about 8:35 and I thought it sounded really good.

Jer and I had a terrific time playing with all the 'pros' and 'not-so-pros' - it was great having some folks just drop in and join in - what fun! Why, we even had an exotic dancer among us - whoda thought?

I wish you all a wonderful sixth birthday celebration, and many more superb drum circles. I will be finally home from the hospital and nursing homes early next week, and able to join you some time in June. Other than my dog, drumming is one of the things I've missed the most over the past 3 months. Looking forward to sharing great drumming events with you this summer.

I'll be bringing a friend but I'm teaching until 3:30pm or so in Woodside so I'm not sure how early we will be able to arrive. Hopefully in time for the picnic!

I'll join you for a picnic. Let's say 6pm?? Who else?? It's a Friday so some may find it difficult to come earlier than 7pm.
