Free Kayaking in Brooklyn Bridge Park

Hi All!

We run a free walk-up kayaking program in the park.  It's free and you don't have to have kayaked before--because you're paddling in the safety of our embayment between the piers (not out in the river in the middle of boat traffic.)  Wear anything you don't mind getting wet, and don't bring a lot of extra stuff with you because we do not have storage.  (Most people just leave their bags and backpacks along our ramp as they go.  We've never had an issue with it, but we're also not tracking your stuff.)

Kids can come on their own if they are 18 and can paddle in a single kayak by themselves (with parent/guardian present at 16).  Otherwise, they have to paddle with an adult.  There is 1 child per boat.

The program runs from 10:30-4:30, but note the following.  It's free, so there can be a line.  The last boat goes out at around 3:45PM depending on the line, so the earlier you show up, the better, as it's generally less crowded in the morning.

Last note--we definitely need volunteers, especially with kayaking experience (not required at all, though.)   We could use people to help staff our program, and the more people we get, the less time each person is needed to cover our days.  Contact Monica and Charlie at [masked] to volunteer or join our volunteer list here:

Hey, I have a question! Do they only have single kayak there? I have never done that before and I don't know how to swim. Would that
be safe if I go ? Thank you.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
