The Guild season 4 starts on July 13th, so in anticipation, and because some of you might not have enjoyed it yet, we're screening the first 3 seasons in a marathon.
The Guild is a independent sitcom web series about a group of online gamers, written by and starring Felicia Day (Penny in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Mag in Dollhouse and Vi in BtVS). The show started in the late summer of 2007, and for the first season was financed solely by Paypal donations from loyal fans (many of whom are members of this very group!). Since season 2, The Guild has been distributed by Xbox Live and Microsoft and sponsored by Sprint.
Episodes vary from 3-8 minutes in length, and follow the Guild members’ lives online and offline. And, is very funny even if you aren't a gamer. For gamers, I understand the thing is all one big, long, inside joke.
The Guild has won numerous awards, including the SXSW, YouTube and Yahoo Web Series Awards in 2008, and 3 Streamy Awards in 2009: Best Comedy Web Series, Best Ensemble, and Best Actress for Felicia Day. It also features the ever-engaging, Wil Wheaton in an ongoing guest appearance role.
Arrive at 3pm-sh (or after the World Cup Soccer game is over). We'll aim to get started watching before 4pm. Run-time for all three seasons is just under 4 hours.
Sorry you won't be able to join us for the marathon, Felicia. But, thanks for joining the group! Let us know if you are ever in town and we'll shindig!
She's aware of us! </squeaky-voiced teen> (Could be an impostor, I suppose, but seems legit anyway.)
Felicia, you might be interested to know that we had a Guild S2 DVD in our silent auction at this year's CSTS Vancouver, which went for $37. It was donated by @alalcoolj (aka AlanD), picked up by me at Comic-Con 2009 where I had it signed by all of you. (I was the one who gave you the mini-Jayne's hat pin, which I had bought from Serena, who knits all things Jayne's hat. :D)
Anybody who's coming to this have a copy of TRON they could lend me? It looks as if I may be sitting through a panel for the new TRON at Comic-Con and it would help if I'd seen the old one. :)
we should do TRON SCREENING THAT HAS BEEN FOREVER AND A DAY SINCE I'VE SEEN IT
We're planning a "Tron" screening in the fall before the new Tron movie is released in theatres. Keep your eyes on the calendar for that.
Sorry, but my lantern for Folk Fest isn't finished yet, and I really need to spend tomorrow working on that. That said, if I finish it, anyone heading out to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival next weekend should really stick around till the end of each night... they might see a somewhat familiar spaceship in the Lantern Procession. *g* Please send me plenty of "serene" get-it-finished vibes!
M, bring Higlet for a hat fitting. I also have a regular Jayne hat ready for you.
Jeanie TTF, bring your lantern down to Fontana today and work on it while you watch.
A warning: tonight at 7:04 a CF-14 fighter plane is going to be screaming over Empire Field about 500 feet off the ground!
Is there anywhere to park that's good nearby? We were at a hotel last time but can't park there today.
You can park underneath the building (it says 1 hour, but John says it's not enforced), or on the street in the neighbourhood.
Another (late) warning: We will be watching the episodes from the DVDs, which are uncensored and contain a number of f-bombs (especially season 3). Sensitive viewers may prefer to watch the bleeped versions available on MSN video and X-Box.
