For this trip we will go to Whistler Olympic Park in the upper Callaghan area (where the Brandywine Lodge is) and explore the trails there. I have never been to this upper area of Callaghan before so it will definitely be exploratory. I've heard its lovely though, so should be fun. Here's a link to the map/trails:
I'd like to do a combination of Olympic Explorer, Stadium Explorer, Lookout Explorer and Black Tusk Explorer, for a total of about 15kms. I would say the trip will be intermediate and please ensure you'll be able to keep up with the group.
We are a diverse and very active group of outdoor enthusiasts, with a range of different outdoor activities planned for all skill levels.
Our adventurous team of organizers provide opportunities for members to take part in many types of exciting and challenging outdoor activities. Please note though - we are all volunteers, with busy lives outside of this group. We are not professional guides and it is every participant's responsibility to be safe and come prepared with proper equipment and safety essentials. If not, you put the entire group at risk.
We always have many day hikes scheduled. Some are in the nearby in the North Shore mountains and others further out. BC has endless possibilities when it comes to hiking! Almost every night of the week we have after work trips booked (hiking in summer and snowshoeing in winter), which are great way to end an indoor work day. These include the BCMC, Grouse Grind, Hollyburn, Black Mountain, Mount Seymour and others.
We also offer backpacking trips - we've done week+ long trips to the North Coast Trail, the Juan de Fuca trail, the Chilkoot Trail, the Nootka Trail and others. Weekend trips past and upcoming include Okanagan Provincial Park, Cathedral Lakes Provincial Park, Manning Park, the Stein Valley, Tetrahedron Plateau, various Whistler/Pemberton area trips, Mt Baker and other trips to the Cascades Range. In 2015, we have plans to hike part or all of the John Muir Trail (US), the Pacific Crest Trail (US), the Sunshine Coast Trail (180kms through hike here in our back yard)
If you prefer your bike, cycle trips are offered too! We have after work rides, weekend and longer trips both near and far. Planned and past rides include Whistler and back (2 days), the Sunshine Coast Loop (5 days bike camping), the Galloping Goose (Victoria area), and an Oregon Cycle trip. In 2105 we hope to cycle from Vancouver to southern Washington and do a California Trip! We'll also repeat a few of our favs. Lots to look forward to!
We also have ski trips, kayaking, sailing and just about anything outdoors. If you're interested in becoming an organizer and have some good ideas for trips, please contact us.
BC is a paradise for outdoor adventures, so let's get out there and enjoy BC, and make some new friends along the way!
Please ensure that you post a clear photo of yourself when signing up. Thanks!
