“We'll see many of the very best sections of Zion National Park.”
This moderate + and beautiful 3-day hike involves a lot of elevation gains and drops. Along the way, we'll will see some of Zion's most awe-inspiring scenery as well as many beautiful spots that most day hikers never experience.
Thursday: Drive north and car camp outside of Zion NP.
Friday: Get up early and drive to Zion and get shuttled at 7:00 AM to the Lee Pass trailhead at the north end of the park. Hike 12.5 miles through Kolob Canyon along scenic LaVerkin Creek and climb out to and through Hop Valley.
Saturday: Strenuous 13.6 miles day starting with the scenic Connector Trail and a fun creek crossing. We'll continue on across the beautiful white cliffs of Wildcat Canyon and camp a few miles up the West Rim Trail..
Sunday: 11.4 miles hike on the West Rim Trail: The big payoff! A dramatic decent on a trail chiseled into stunning cliffs, including a side trip to Angels Landing on our drop into Zion's main canyon. Home very late Sunday evening.
This trip is suitable for experienced, fit backpackers who have hiked with me before or have reference from another hiker leader. I have 6 permits. Sign up on waitlist if interested..
The cost of the shuttle and permits is $60 and is not refundable if you cancel for any reason. Here's a trip write-up (except we're not doing the East Rim trail) http://www.citrusmilo.com/zionguide/transziontrek.cfm
