This will be a fun backpacking trip in the western Superstitions!
The easy hike is 15 miles round trip (7.5 miles each day) with minimal elevation gain (550' each day).
On Saturday morning, we'll carpool to the Peralta trailhead in the western Superstitions and start hiking east on the Dutchman trail. The trail climbs up a small hill and drops down into beautiful Barkley Basin before continuing to prominent Miners Needle. We veer off and take the Coffee Flat trail through the very scenic Whitlow Canyon and onto Coffee Flat and Buzzard's Roost.
We'll camp near the old windmills at Reeds Water which has reliable water and plenty of space to camp. We'll enjoy a group meal around the campfire.
On Sunday we'll follow the same route out in time to enjoy a late lunch in Apache Junction.
