PCT Backpack - Warner Springs

This will be an easy to moderate backpacking trip on the Pacific Crest Trail in beautiful San Diego County.

Friday, we'll drive over and camp near the trailhead.  Over the next two days, we'll hike 17 miles alongside oak groves and riparian streams.

We start on Saturday at Barrel Spring and head north crossing San Ysidro Creek before crossing a savannah of grasslands.  After stopping at Eagle Rock, we'll continue across the pretty valley called Canada Verde hiking creekside towards Highway 79 and our campsite for the evening.

On Sunday, we'll follow Agua Caliente Creek with its massive oaks, cottonwoods, and sycamore trees.  We'll climb gently to reach our shuttle vehicle at Lost Valley Road.  The hike is approximately 10 miles on Saturday and 7 miles on Sunday.

This will be a fun hike over fairly gentle terrain with loads of incredible scenery and vegetation.  Here's a link to maps: http://www.hikertrash.net/ (print maps A13-14 and B1-2.

Had a great time. Once again, great people. Lucky was not feeling well but still managed to share his expertise and generosity with us.

Lucky got your directions. I'm going to leave my place at around 2 so I should be there by 5pm. Look for a tan Toyota pick up with a camper shell I get there first. Looks like a great spot, can't wait!

I forgot to mention, if we're lucky (and I am), we may hit wildflower season. The hills covered in California poppies are a sight to be seen.
