Superstitions: Hoolie Bacon - Peters Trail Loop

This will be a fun, but rugged and tough, 22 mile backpacking trip in the seldom-seen northern Superstitions that loops around scenic Music Mountain. This trip is well suited to fit and experienced backpackers.

Starting at the Tortilla Trailhead, we'll complete this beautiful Sonoran desert loop clockwise by connecting a series of trails. The Hoolie Bacon Trail will drop us into the spectacular upper La Barge Box. We'll follow the canyon west and camp at La Barge spring (reliable water).

On Sunday, we'll climb up steeply using the Peter's Trail and return in time for an early dinner at Tortilla Flats.

These trails are seldom used. Expect 3,400' total elevation gain, challenging route finding, and lots of catclaw.

Another great hike in the Supes with great people from BCH...the prettiest section I have ever seen there was on that Red Tanks Trail, just awesome!
