This will be a fun and relaxing weekend car camping near the confluence of Turkey and Aravaipa Creeks, near the eastern entrance to Aravaipa.  Our camp will be creekside nestled under huge sycamore trees. There will be plenty of firewood to keep us warm in the evening.

We'll drive up Friday and crash at the Fourmile Canyon campground near Klondike.

On Saturday after setting up camp in Turkey Creek, we'll hike down lush Aravaipa Canyon.  This is a beautiful water hike and we'll explore beautiful Booger Canyon.  Upon our return to our base camp, we'll enjoy an evening campfire and cocktails.

On Sunday, we'll hike up babbling Turkey Creek under a canopy of sycamores and cottonwoods and visit a cliff dwelling.  We'll head home in the afternoon.

There is a $5 fee for the Aravaipa day use permit that will be collected at the carpool location.  Here's a map of the area: http://www.toddshikingguide.com/Hikes/Arizona/Misc/AravaipaEast.jpg

The weather looks great for this weekend! Expect it to get cold at night. Bring your warm cloths and two sleeping bags.

How many miles are you planning to hike on each day?

Sounds fun. 20 + miles sounds like too much, but 6-10 would be cool.

I'm new to the group, looking to get back into hiking, eventually backpacking. How difficult are the hikes? I'm not a quiter, but I don't want to effect the enjoyment of others. I'm overweight, out of shape at the moment, but I'm not totally useless. Used to wrestle in HS, have hiked on & off over the years, did Pat's Run in April, 5k last winter. Most of the hikes I'm seeing events for are a touch our of my ability, this looks very doable. Plus, fire & cocktails... :)
