What are your technical strengths?

Over the years I have worked with various technologies, starting with NeXTSTEP and Objective-C in the nineties, through typical Java Enterprise and Microsoft .NET solutions, to lightweight JVM-based stacks using, for example, Scala as a programming language. If anything, I guess, a strength is the breadth of technology that I have hands-on experience with, and the desire to find simple (not simplistic!) solutions. More at:

What technology area are you most interested in?

Frequent exposure to overly complex systems has made me interested in simple designs. It has also pushed me towards exploring how to better understand systems, software architecture and data, and in the process I have become interested in software visualisations. Recently a colleague and I started a website on which we collect our thinking in that space:

I'm a software developer, consultant, and Head of Technology at ThoughtWorks. I help our clients build innovative software solutions using modern technologies and agile practices.
