Description of the ride:
17 miles of beautiful scenery! The ride takes us from Carlin Park in Jupiter to MacArthur Park. There are more miles on this ride, but the ride is smooth and we never leave anyone behind. Anyone who has happily and comfortably completed our 10 mile Lake Worth ride should be comfortable on this ride.

More about the ride:
It's all pavement; almost any bike is usable but street tires are encouraged. Riders are encouraged to wear helmets. This is a flat ride and involves some road riding, but the scenery is gorgeous! Lots of water breaks will be taken. This is a fun, pleasant ride, not a race or a training exercise. After the ride we will have brunch somewhere nearby.

Kids:
This is a kid-friendly event.

Cost:
Free to ride. Free to park at Carlin Park. Bring whatever $$ you want for lunch.

Time:
Let's meet at 9:15 and plan to roll out at 9:30 sharp.

Parking and how we'll find each other:
There is one large-sized parking lot. Look for Joyce's yellow Jeep in the parking lot. There is plenty of parking for all members.

Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson

Winner of the Whitbread Prize for best first fiction, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit is a coming-out novel from Winterson, the acclaimed author of The Passion and Sexing the Cherry. "We Women Who Write"* offers members a welcoming audience for their literary work, as well as a supportive atmosphere in which to take creative risks.

Each member will have the opportunity to self-define her needs as a new or experienced writer. You can receive encouragement only, or encouragement plus critique - your choice.

Everyone has a story to tell, and we will explore our stories as friends and fellow writers, gently and non-competitively. We'll strive to respect our own efforts, as well as those of others, and we may even do a few fun, generative writing exercises when time allows.

* The name "We Women Who Write" is taken from a poem by Amy Lowell (lesbian poet) who observed that "...we're a queer lot/We women who write ..."

WHEN:
We meet the third Saturday of every month from 9:30-11:00 a.m.

COST: Free!

WHAT TO BRING:
Pen and writing pad; 10 copies of a short piece of your writing (example: one poem, 2-3 pages of a story in-progress, etc.) that you would like to read and discuss with the group; respectful listening skills; plus enthusiasm about your own writing and the writing of other women.

PETS:
A cat lives here.

KIDS:
Not really a kid-friendly event. However, could be good for older girls who have a well-developed attention span for listening, and who already are consistently doing some writing of their own. Be mindful that there may be adult content in the writing of other participants.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY:
This location is on the first floor and there is a ramp.

I-95 to Palm Beach Lakes exit
East on PB Lakes
Left on Congress
Right on Presidential Way
Right on Embassy Dr.
