What's on your mind? Welcome to the BLAST women’s discussion group.
Come join with other women openly sharing experiences and wisdom about our lives as well as the real issues we face. Together we create a welcoming and safe environment where women are encouraged and supported. (Locations vary each month.)
Topics for discussion are always suggested and selected by members of the group. Meetings are facilitated by BLAST assistant organizer Millie Smith, who has experience leading and participating in lesbian groups. Note: This is not intended to be a therapy group and will not function as one.
The group has unstructured socialization from 6:30-7:00. The structured group discussion begins at 7:00.
What to bring:
Respectful listening skills, a willingness to talk openly about your life and lessons learned so far, your sense of humor, and an open mind. Tea and coffee will be served; if you want something else to drink, please bring it. Also, if you would like, bring a small dessert to share. (Not required.)
Participants agree to…
• Come to the group unimpaired
• Silence all cell phones and no texting
• Use respectful listening skills
• Be sure just one woman speaks at a time
• Be nonjudgmental - go for understanding rather than judgment
• Respect confidentiality – what’s said in the group stays within the group
• Not make assumptions about the sexual orientation of others in the group
Age: College and up. Adult topics are sometimes discussed.
Pets: Dogs and cats live here.
Wheelchair accessibility: First floor location, no stairs. Small bathroom with narrow door.
