Brooklyn Futurist Meetup Pages

Updated March 24, 2012 by New Organizer: Mike Taubleb

I've enjoyed reinvigorating this group after it was dormant for a year. While technology will remain important, we'll cover many non-technical topics, broadening the member reach and discussion. Our focus is 10 years and further out. We'll experiment with different formats from solo speakers of conventional length to mini presentations by members, panels, speed networking, socials and debates. Welcome your participation and ideas for making this an influential, engaging forum.

Specifically, we ask which trends are emerging that will have formative effects on the world of tomorrow?

One thing that many people find troubling is our society's inability to think and plan more than a handful years into the future. For this reason, forceful trends are often not given the attention they demand.

Therefore, the responsibility of examining such questions is left to curious, intelligent, and dynamic people who will elevate the discussion about the long-term implications of these emerging trends. To this end, our Meetup will host a new topic about 4-6 times annually, usually with a guest speaker.

Some housekeeping:

Please do not post promotions to other meetups without written ok. They will be deleted.

Members with repeated no shows or last minute cancellations will be removed from group in fairness to those who attend and organize events.

Please be civil in your questioning to guest speakers - this is not a forum to battle over political, religious or other agendas nor for overt self-promotion.
