Tour Captain's Report
The starting location has changed. After eating at Denica's, I don't believe that the club can get in and out in a timely fashion. I've moved the starting location to IHOP. It's close to the freeway and the starting point of our ride.
Ted will have the GPS route available soon. The route is approximately 250 miles. The group site is Pony Bob, and the rangers will have the gate closed but unlocked for those that may traveling individually.
IHOP on First and Los Positas in Livermore, CA is the breakfast location and starting point for the Tour.
Fort Churchill is a bring your own food event. Dinner shopping can be done at Safeway in Dayton NV on the way to the campground.
Membership meeting is at 5 PM on Saturday.
Camping is $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members.
This month we are traveling to Fort Churchill, Nevada and we will learn about the fort's ruins and its history that started in 1861 a year after the so-called Pyramid Lake War began in 1860. The fort was abandoned in 1869 after serving as protection for the Army, Pony Express and a supply depot during the Civil War.
Come join us and learn more about this location and the neighboring Buckland Station down the road, which provided an important way station for pioneer travelers and was one of the earliest ranches in the area. All at this month’s ride and camp venture.
