BNI Tyson's Select Chapter is a one seat per profession group. We'd like to block your competition! All our referrals should ONLY go to you. As a member, the benefit of solidifying the closed business between the other members in the chapter consists of building trust and loyalty. For this reason, we make sure we meet every week and have fun at the same time, just like building a family! Details you should know before coming to visit:

We are a "Referral Based" group. We believe in givers gain philosophy, while no one would think it is reasonable for a business person to turn their back on a long-term relationship with another simply because they have joined a business referral group like BNI. Just because you have joined a BNI chapter, it doesn't automatically follow that you will...

(a) Win the business of another member or 
(b) Receive referrals from that member.

For instance if someone has a long standing relationship with an Accountant, joining a BNI chapter does not automatically mean that the Accountant in the chapter will take over the Accounting business of the new member. It also may not mean that the new member will automatically refer business to the Accountant. This is where it's important to remember that the key word in networking is "work"

In this example, a smart Accountant will spend some "dance time" (1 to 1 meeting) with the new member, get to know him or her and actively seek out some referrals for that new person which will be given freely. Over time another referral may be given and then another. This new member will eventually start to ask him or herself "Gee, I have been dealing with my Accountant for years, but what has he done for me? This Accountant in my BNI group has been giving me good referral work, I really need to weigh up my loyalty to my current
Accountant." Over time, the pendulum must swing in favour of the Accountant who has been a "giver". This is why really powerful networking takes time and persistence.

So, if you think you should be getting more referrals from someone in your group, the answer is to give that person so many referrals that your efforts just can't be ignored.
