Writing in Isolation

Writing is a great way to be productive during the holidays. But, you may need some encouragement.

No matter if you're living in Central Texas or in the middle of a Kansas wheat field, you can find yourself isolated. Holidays can seem lonely. So curl up with a good piece of writing. Sandra Stenzel is going to share some of her experiences and give you ideas to get connected in order to write better and keep up with the technology.

Join us online or in person. Either way you MUST use a headset to prevent reverb problems. Please be sure to bring them with you. If you're online and call in, please make sure you put in the PIN number after you dial in.

Ms. Stenzel is an award-winning writer and has extensive experience working with small businesses and promoting government contracting opportunities for them. She has a lot of information to share.

I really hate to miss because writing in isolation is difficult for me. Looking forward to seeing everyone next month. Thanks.

Just finished a new history of scenic Rancho Richey Refuge. Please let me know if you’d like a copy.

I could either put one in the mail to you or determine a rendezvous time/place.

This was an excellent description of many (but not all) of the facets associated with real isolation and the need to take care of mundane needful things before doing any writing. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to more presentations by Sandra. Thumbs up.
I am dismayed by the number of people who signed up and did not attend nor send regrets. Bad manners

Great fun being a virtual meetup because more people could join us. Sandra Stenzel really brought out some good points about living and writing in isolation and what to think about before becoming a hermit. She also talked about inspiration and shared where she finds it as a writer in the wheat fields of Kansas. Probably most thought provoking was her point that you can be isolated in a city as well.

I will send out the info for the next meeting to all. We also put it out under EventBrite.com. Just search for Business Success Center. Sorry I didn't see this earlier.

Oops! I’ve no microphone. I can hear and text, but not speak. What’s the URL?

So sorry. You can use the chat box the next time to send us all a message. It's part of the go to meeting. You can also call in and talk and use your computer to see the slides and hear.

http://www.meetup.com/JustThis-Zen-Writing/ is a group I co-faciltate at the Austin Zen Center. We meditate, read a prompt, write for 30 minutes, and then discuss. We'll have a meeting on 12/17, and then, starting again in January, every Tuesday night. We are exploring as a continuing theme, "what is zen writing?" Our work sometimes makes it way into our Zen journal, JustThis (http://justthis.austinzencenter.org). Email me ([masked]) if you have questions.

So sorry for the change. Looking forward to seeing everyone November 11 when Bookpeople comes to discuss their multiple blogs for multiple audiences. And, Sandy was gracious enough to join us in December. This will be a great way to get through the holidays and be productive at the same time.
