Over the last several months we have been discussing the "pairs of opposites" attributed to the seven Hebrew "double letters".  For our February meeting we will conclude our discussion of the pair of opposites "Wealth and Poverty", which are attributed to Tarot Key 10, The Wheel of Fortune.  We hope you will join us for this interesting discussion.

One of the quotations discussed at the January meeting was the first beatitude, traditionally translated, "Blessed are the poor in spirit." This is a good example of a mistranslation, based upon Latin and Greek texts, rather than upon the Peshitta, the text in the original language of the New Testament, Aramaic. In Aramaic, there are five meanings for the word "spirit": Spirit, wind, temper, pride, and rheumatism. When I got home from the meetup, I checked the excellent Lamsa translation from the Aramaic, and it is "Blessed are the poor in pride," so those at the meeting who thought that the quote referred to humility were correct, according to Lamsa.
