On Your Knees! in National AIDS Memorial Grove!

Join our host, Ross—Bare Chest Calendar 2014’s Mr. April—for our first service project in the AIDS Memorial Grove! We’ll be working alongside the Grove’s staff and volunteers to beautify this beloved area that members of our community work so hard to maintain.

Bagels and coffee will be provided prior to our service project and, afterwards, they’ll provide us with lunch that we’ll enjoy together in this beautiful setting!

Dress comfortably and don't be afraid to get a little DIRTY!!

I thought it went really well. The dust from the hillside and the mulch piles really got to me, though. Perhaps I should wear a dust mask next time. But I'm glad I went; it was worth it, despite the dust!

Unfortunately, a work related emergency came up and I would have to be on the East coast for work, so won't be able to attend .

FYI, I'm driving from Oakland and can take others from the East Bay. Also, still hoping for knowledge of whether there is parking in the park somewhere near the grove, or whether I should plan to street park on the north or south side. Thanks guys.

Hi Everett... As Frank mentioned before, there is parking bordering the Grove on Nancy Pelosi Blvd. There is not a dedicated Grove parking lot. However, if you arrive and others have already parked on the streets bordering the Grove, you will need to park elsewhere and walk to the Grove. You should not have to park outside boundaries of the park, unless, of course, you arrive later and other park visitors have already taken the available parking. As with all parking, it is first come, first served, so arrive early. I hope this answers your question!

It does answer my question Ross. Thanks for the detailed reply. I hadn't gleaned parking info Frank's earlier helpful reply.

So maybe I'm a bit dim, but am I just now making the connection with this event and "Fagging in the Park" on 5/12? Essentially, today's effort will be to clean up the mess we'll have made on that day. haha It does actually make a certain amount of sense.

East bayer here with no knowledge of that area. Anyone know if one can drive into the park. Gmaps shows what look like roads, but not sure if they're for public cars. Also, if there's anywhere to park near the grove in the park. Or does one need to park outside on the street and walk in? Thanks much!

    May 5, 2013

    • Frank B.

Hey Everett! YES, there are driveable roads in GGP - HOWEVER, be aware that a portion of JFK Drive is closed on Saturday's between April and September.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
