BRIDGEMEN Get Your WEED On! In Golden Gate Park

Please join our host Matt H. as we help restore native habitats on the paths behind the
Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. Meet us outside the 9th Avenue Children's Playground so we can learn from our Parks and Rec friends what we need to assist in "invasive species removal" (translation: WEED pullin'!)

This is a rain or shine event so be prepared to do what we do best: Do Good! Get Dirty!

Bring your appetite and we can lunch together in the park or at a neighboring café and know that we'll get to enjoy the fruits of our labor with our fellow BRIDGEMEN!

A thousand apologies for my no show today. I woke up this morning feeling awful but it is no excuse. I'm sorry for letting Matt and my fellow Bridgemen down.

For our new members: Bridgemen utilizes Meet-up.com to plan for many of our social & community service events. When we plan a community event sometimes there is a limit or maximum number of guys we can have attend, as was the case today. For most of our social events we do not have a limit but it is good to know how many guys will be there if we are purchasing food for everyone's enjoyment. In the past we have been commended for our attrition at events. We want to keep our reputation so please make it a point to hold to your RSVP status.

For everyone: Why RSVP Yes if you can't or won't show up? We are all adult men with busy lives and things happen at the last minute but show respect for the guys that plan & arrange the events for us to participate in. Also, in some cases it actually costs our group money if you do not show up. I know I want to keep having fun meet-ups so show up if you say you are going to.
Thanks Matt for planning for this much needed park clean-up. It was great seeing everyone that was able to make it today.

Really disappointed at how many people were a no show, especially since we had a wait list. The guys that were there did an awesome job, but we could have done so much more with a full showing.

Right! We're coming after those no-show bitches. Punishment shall be served!

Hey guys, I'm really sorry for the very last minute bail but I can't make it in the morning after all. Bummed and was looking forward to another fun outdoor day. Maybe next time. Hope someone can snag my spot.

I'm with Kevin on this. Loved the work we did for the playground last time. If you're not going to be able to make it, say something so one of us wait-listers can join.

You are one of the lucky few! Congratulations!!!!
You can check on the RSVP list. Look forward to seeing you!

Unfortunately, the waiting list goes in order. But now you are the next one up. And I will bet that someone else will have to cancel.

You are welcome to bring a lunch and meet us at 12 to eat and socialize in the park!

Let me know if a slot opens up!

    July 21, 2013

    • Matt

If no slot opens up and you would like to join us for lunch at around 12, you are welcome to. Some of us are going to bring lunches to have in the park afterwards.

Dear Everyone, I am excited to see you!

Here are answers to some questions:

    1. The Parks & Rec Dept did not provide gloves last time, so if you have a pair and/or extras, definitely bring them.

    2. P&R (AKA Marianne) said that in order to do an event with more than 15 volunteers, they would have to hire another gardener and pay them overtime. That being said, the park is a public place, so no one can really stop you from storming in and pulling some weeds.

    3. Lets eat lunch on the lawn by the playground after we are done. I think that it would be nice to enjoy the park after we have made it prettier. Anyone (even if you are not going to the actual event) is welcome to join us.

    4. Being directionally challenged, I think that it is hard to find the park for the first time. It is at 9th Ave & Fulton, but it is below street level and behind trees. If you find yourself lost and alone, call or text me.

    Love,

Matt may need to weigh in on this (even though he's a skinny lightweight bitch) but isn't this one of those events that extra people can show up for as there'll probably be more than enough to do? It's not like we'll turn away extra helpers. Or maybe I'll get fired just for proposing this. haha :P

Hey, John David! From what I remember, Matt told us that Parks & Rec wants 15 at most to work on this area at a given time.

Ah, true, we might go on a gay riot or something. A Penis Riot, in honor of Russia's Pussy Riot. Yay!

Sorry cant make this time. Have fun guys
