Building a Better Community... Garden!

"Get Dirty" with BRIDGEMEN as we work together to design and create a community garden for the Peter Claver Community. First John David and Jimmy will walk us through their design concept, then we'll work together to beautify the living space on the upstairs patio to create a warm and inviting place for residents to rest and enjoy.

To create a lively conducive environment for the patients we will have some of that light rock, less talk music on and really "Get Dirty" planting flowers. Small acts of kindness can make a person's day better, and the ripple effect creates a happier, healthier and more enjoyable San Francisco for everyone.

Our presence at the residential center sends a dominant message to the city and Fillmore District. The center opened in 1985, the program marked one of the earliest attempts by any organization to aggressively serve those sick and dying from HIV/AIDS regardless of financial contributions from the patients.

If your in the giving mood and you would like to present a gift to the project, feel free too bring with you or arrange pick up/drop off prior to the project launch date. Just give the host's a email or phone call. Please don't stress if you do not have bags of dirt laying around on the 10th floor of The Paramount, we would love for you to come anyways.

Huge thanks to everyone who attended. The event went off without a hitch, and that was due to everyone jumping right in and getting the job done. The place looks great and I'm sure the residents will love it!

I'm really sorry; I double-booked myself and the other meeting was previously scheduled. I wasn't paying attention; but then if I can get away with not paying for something, I usually go for it! Should have paid this time!

And everyone will be required to work shirtless, clearly. haha Yay! I would like to inquire of anyone who wishes to help out on this project, that if you have any ideas for design or items you wish to contribute, please contact either Jimmy or me. We want to develop the space in a fun and imaginative way, incorporating "nontraditional" containers for plants where possible (we have someone donating homemade clay pots) and we are also looking for old tables and chairs to use for the space (old but sturdy and with character, of course). We are not asking any Bridgemen to spend any money, as you'll already be contributing your time, but if you have an old chair or table, shelf or plant pot that you could add to the collection, that would be greatly appreciated. We even have someone donating their own rose bush! Please feel free to contact us either over Meetup or at (415)[masked] for John David and (415)[masked] for Jimmy Mason. Thanks, love ya! Mean it!

Not long at all. We would just take some time to view the space and maybe a bit of the facility, but it's not large. If you wanted to take pictures and get back to us with your thoughts, that would be great. I would say less than 30 minutes, so done before noon, if you guys wanted to meet there at 11:30.
