Openhouse Fall Feast!

Give thanks and celebrate with senior citizens and older adults from Openhouse, San Francisco's premier seniors organization. Openhouse provides housing, services and community building specifically for LGBTQ seniors. We'll be there to set up, serve dinner and spend some quality time with our elders who want to connect with others. Then, afterwards, we'll tidy up and head out on the town to toast the holiday season!

You won't want to miss our third annual Thanksgiving partnership with Openhouse!

Sunday, November 10 | 1:30pm - 5:30pm

It was great. It was my first event. I enjoyed meeting everyone except Matt (just kidding - there were many Matt's). If I didn't get a chance to talk with you (it's because you were hiding), I look forward to talking with you next time (which apparently will be tonight at the self-defense Magnet gathering ... Feel free to say hi; I'm friendly; if it's awkward - with certainty I can say it's my fault :)

Hi Frank. I have been pulled into work at the last minute. I am so very very sorry -- I think this event is so important to be part of. I was looking forward to meeting some of the seniors. Please let us know how it turns out. I'll make sure I will bring more canned goods for our food drive...

I also seem to have come down with something. I was hoping I would feel better this morning, but the scratchy throat is persisting. Apologies - I was looking forward to this. :-/

Hi there. I'm new to Meetup and not sure how it works. For example I'm on the waitlist for this event and would love to volunteer. Will I be notified if I can attend? Thanks in advance!

If a space opens and you're next on the wait list you'll be bumped up automatically and then informed via email.

Hey Guys - Send in the reliever (I need some relief). I feel like I might be coming down with a cold; best to pull out just in case. I hope everything goes well; really hate to miss this one.

I heard some jokes at the farmers market today to tell the guests tomorrow. Get ready to groan: what do you call a bear with no teeth? A gummy bear. What do you call a cow with 4 legs? Cow. What do you call a cow with 3 legs? Tri tip. 2 legs? Lean beef. 1 leg? Steak. No legs? Ground beef.

So sorry, we have a family emergency... I hope a few people on the wait list can fill in.

If I'm on a waitlist, when would I find out if a opening opens up? Thanks for your help to who ever responds. I just joined today and am new to all this.

Matthew, I have a prior engagement that will not end until 2:30p. Afterwards, I would love to come and volunteer. However, if you need someone to commit for the entire time, I will unRSVP to make room for other volunteers. Please let me know.

Hi Francis. As long as you're able to get to the venue by 3PM, that should be fine. Thanks! :)

Hello all, I unRSVP'd for 2 reasons: 1) I have to work at 3:30 that afternoon & 2) I wanted to give another Bridgemen a chance to attend this wonderful event. I know many of you have heard me say it or screamed it but make sure if you RSVP "yes" to an event you actually show up. Many times the community partner we are helping needs a certain number of people or the host of the event has committed to an exact number of Bridgemen to the community service event. And many times Bridgemen has purchased/spent money on a number of items in advance to accommodate the group. "Showing the F**k Up" is my new motto. I will show at 1:30 to take some photos of you awesome Bridgemen that are there to give your time. Let's give thanks & celebrate!!!

Having been in both progressive care and assisted living (but now footloose and horse-healthy here in SF!), I want you to know how important and appreciated what you are doing is to those of us in the elder gay community. The Stonewall in June of '69 was my first of many civil rights "paddy wagon rides". It changed my life's direction to one of activism and protest for the rights of all of us who were among the most discriminated and oppressed of people. People without rights simply because "we are". I am awestruck and honored to have lived in a community of brothers and sisters that has matured, coalesced, travailed and prevailed to arrive at a time and place I never thought I would see in my lifetime. There will always be more to do - and I know we will do it. Regardless of our age. We are here. We are vibrant. We are proud. We are strong. We have so much to celebrate! What you men offer means so much - I look forward to participating.

Knowing that the our Sr. brother's and sisters opened the door for many of us, It will be a great service!

Out of all the meet-ups last year, I found this one the most rewarding. Am very glad we are helping out again this year!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
