Pirate Scavanger Hunt!

NOTE: PLEASE RSVP BY SEPTEMBER 5th so I know how many Teams/car we need!!

Ahoy, matey! Calling all pirates, wenches, swashbucklers and buccaneers! Step to and gather ye mates for a Red Stick treasure hunt!

Register your crew of 4 or less by sending your team and captain name to [masked] by September 6, 2013. We’ll put you on a team if you don’t have one.

Don’t be a scallywag, come dressed ready for life at sea or ye shall walk the plank. (Wear pirate stuff, there’s a contest – no ninjas.) Must be 21 to participate because pirates like rum.

$10 for 10/31 Consortium Members, $15 for non-members. This is a photo scavenger hunt so each team must have a digital camera or camera phone. (Extra points for uploading pics to our Facebook page, @ us on Twitter, tagging us on Instagram or Four Square. See official rules at registration for details.)

Registration is from 6:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Gerry Lane Chevrolet. The race begins at 7:15 p.m. SHARP! Bring non-perishables for the GBR Food Bank to registration to be entered in the door prize drawing. All crews must report to The Cove (2561 Citiplace Court) by 10:30 p.m. to be eligible for the booty. Winning crews announced at 11 p.m. or as soon as all of the points are tallied (seriously, it can take a while).

Cash bar at the Cove and there are several places that serve food on the map so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to get something to eat.

We are also hosting a costume drive for the children of the Baton Rouge Big Buddy Program. If you would like to donate a new or gently used costume to one of these deserving children, please bring it to registration at Gerry Lane. All children in the Big Buddy Program who receive a costume will march in the 2013 Baton Rouge Halloween Parade! Donate a costume and get $5 off your entry fee.

    OK, what does everyone think about meeting at the Cove at 6 PM. We have three drivers: Patrice, Ed and Nancy/Al. Patrice/Nancy-can you do pick up at the Cove? Ed and I will meet you over at the car dealership. This way at the end of the night, no one needs to drive over from the Cove to pick up their car.

    I RSVPed the group, and you will pay them when you get to the car dealership. We can sort out teams when we get there so everyone can fit comfortably in the cars.

      I won't be driving. Right now, we have 8 people, so we should be able to do 4 people per car. Ed and I will try to get to the Cove about 6 PM, he has to drive in from Holden and pick me up at home. People NOT driving can leave their car at the Cove, and hitch a ride with Patrice and Ed.

    Note from a member of last year's team. Remember this is a TIMED event (no speeding) and some of the clues you need to find are at certain points (like a receipt from Jack in the Box timestamped 7:15 - just making up a number don't quote me on that)

    Also the clues ARE NOT IN ORDER Clue #1 maybe downtown, Clue #2 by the Mall of LA, Clue #3 back downtown.... so plan a route carefully.

    Most importantly.... HAVE FUN!!!

    Ok, here's the quandry. We start at one point, and end at another. What we did last year was have everyone meet at the Cove at 6 PM, then carpooled to the registration. This year, its a little tougher, because the car dealership is across town. Ed also won't be able to make any earlier then 6:15. Al And Nancy have volunteered their car, Ed is willing to drive, is there another person? (Gail? Patrice?). We have 10 people which means we can do two teams of 4 and one team of 2, or any other combination. Open to suggestions here?

      Where are Al and I meeting everyone to begin?, the Cove or at registration? We pay you? or have you just informed them of our number and we register and pay them ourselves at the dealership? Lots of questions. This is a new one for us. Thanks I know Baton Rouge well and the Cove.

      Note: His van is a modified for disabled and only has a backseat bench, but can fit 3 easily or 4 if needed, but tight We can be the team of 2 if that's okay. We still want to be part of the group though., I forgot about the modifications to his van....3 is about it.
