We have our first project on the go on Vancouver Island.  We aim to fill up this project with our owner investors by August 2014 - yes this year!

We're very excited about the current project and hope you can come on out and hear about the farm, education center and café business aspects of this new community. Remaining active with a focus on a group shared and run farm to become self sufficient, maintain good health and share our wisdom, and excess produce with the community through our shop / cafe. That's the intention of this community.

If farming, living in community, outreach to the surrounding community and being an integral part of running a small farm as part of a team,  appeals to you, then this is the one to explore.

If you are interested you must register before March 21 (extended) as we have limited seating.

Hope to see you there!

We are writing a book on the subject along with all the related research, we have educators on board, we have a permaculture design certificate and have acquired a teaching certificate to start a permaculture institute, we have capital, we are studying alternative styles of building, alternative energy resources, water collection, seed saving, we are growing food and conducting research adjusting to climate, extending seasons, composting and soil building, non extractive methods, we have spoken to Mayors, Council members, planners, we have researched zoning and ALR issues, CSAs, trade networks, alternative currencies, the list goes on. We are committed to this.

Everyone should be doing what we are doing.

We have been quiet, because we have been busy.

The particular project discussed did not proceed. Many people wanted to "test the waters" to see if it was suitable to them but few were interested in a financial commitment even those that had the funds to do so. "I would like to rent" to see what it is like, is a comment that we have heard. Hardly committed, and rent what? Someone has to buy the land and pay for the buildings...

We have not given up, and we are committed to this in every way. We are creating a Permaculture Institute, and I am writing a book (nearly complete) on building communities. This is a total re-set for people, and that scares them, the book is designed to help. I have also had discussions with many 20-somethings, and they know this is needed, and they have no fear of it, so I have opened it to a multigenerational plan.

I actually emailed the organizer last year to see if this went ahead. I didn't get a reply, so I'm wondering too.

6 people in attendance! :) It seems we're all on the same page about a very different direction for future intentional, affordable and healthy communities.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
