Backabush is going to Scotland for amazing mountain adventure!

Every year our members ask if we can do a trip to Scotland but we rarely can because it is too far to go just for a weekend. So here is the solution - let's go for a whole week!

The Scottish Highlands offer the best of Britain's upland scenery and cannot be beaten for mountain adventure. It is here that we find the highest, most rugged and remote mountains and there is no better place to base ourselves than between Ben Nevis and Glen Coe.

We have managed to secure some quality accommodation in a quiet and secluded hamlet just a few miles from the highest mountain in Britain - Ben Nevis! Our lodge is wonderfully set in its own private, wooded grounds and the site enjoys superb panoramic views overlooking Loch Linnhe and Ardgour Mountains. From the doorstep we can take walks in Glenrigh Forest, reaching the impressive Inchree Waterfalls which drop over 100 meters in a series of steps, or take an evening stroll along the shoreline to marvel at the sunsets which occur here.

It is especially good that we have managed to arrange to visit the Scottish mountains in June, at the absolute best time of year when the days are wonderfully long.  Any earlier and the adventurous upland hikes of the Ben Nevis and Glen Coe mountain ranges are likely to still be dangerously clad in snow, while any later and we will be bothered by midges (tiny biting flies) which can hatch out and swarm in July and August.

Our location is perfect for outdoor activity whether you enjoy scenic coastal and valley hikes or challenging mountain climbs. We will have a choice of hikes each day and a small group so we can really make the best of Scotland. In fact the Lochaber area has taken on the title of 'Outdoor Capital of the UK' in recognition of the varied outdoor activities available in the local area.

7 nights quality, lodge accommodation (rooms are twin en-suite with Wi-Fi access and flat screen TVs)  - maximum 2 people per room!

All transport in Scotland and airport transfers from Glasgow.

A choice of guided hikes by trained Mountain Leaders (MLTE) and qualified first aiders.

Food kitty - our lodge has self catering facilities.

Restaurant or pub meals - Scotland is well know for its unique and hearty food.

Transport between London and Glasgow.

The meeting point will be at Glasgow Airport on Saturday 8 June at 13:15. We will drop you off at Glasgow Airport at 16:00 on Saturday 15 June.

Really enjoyed the week. Good venue, amazing location! Nice to meet like-minded people and the Backabush members are always cool, and it was very nice to see Geoff and Eti again. Very well organised as expected with really well lead walks. Hopefully catch everyone again at another one. Sloggs & Irina.

I hope you guys had good weather on the Isle of Skye. It's not been too bad at all here and we managed to do the Ring of Steall last Sunday. Another tough day and 4 more Munros in the bag!

The weather was wonderful on Skye! We did one day of touristy sight-seeing and then climbed in the Cuillins via Coire Ghrunnda through the clouds, including some serious bouldering, great fun! :)

Thank you Geoff and Eti and everyone else for a wonderful week. I've been wanting to hike in Scotland for so long and this trip has been just what I was looking for. So pleased we had that great weather to enjoy the views on top of Ben Nevis. It was lovely to meet new great people too. Until the next adventure!

Thanks Geoff and Eti - it was a great week. Special thanks for getting me to the train on time (actually 20 minutes early! ) and to heather for some amazingly efficient packing -I hadn't been able to shut the bag when I packed it and that was without the whisky bottle! Hope to see people again soon.
