Always your 5 point, it makes a stronger board for whenever you hit in the future, and can be part of a blitzing or a priming strategy. It also prevents opponent from getting a great defensive pt. and it is important later in the game, if you're trying to bear in safely against an opponent waiting to hit you. Often times without your 5 pt, it may not be right to double.

Which is better (all things being equal): if you have a choice on your roll, making your 5 point or making your opponents 5 point? And why?
