It's been awhile since we did this fun trek. Following it was the great dinner on Sonoma creek.
This is a moderate to a bit strenuous trek of 7-8 miles to about 1200 ft. elevation. We will be above Glen Ellen & facing the Mayacama mtn. range to the east.
Great views & most of this trek we will be under shade. A wide variety of trails, deep woods, ferns, creeks & bridges, ridge trails, a hidden sparkling lake, meadows and valleys, and an old abandoned fruit orchard. We can load up here on apples, pears, nectarines, plums & maybe some balckberries.
Our picnic lunch with Wine will be under old Oaks at an old boy scout camp. Then it's off to find the great tree. The last time we could not circle it with 17 people.
At about 4:00 pm we will get to the chocolate & wine tasting portion . It's a super cool place on Sonoma creek. Also great Port pairing with special sour cherry infused dark chocolate. Yum !
At 5.00 pm Our dinner option will commence. We can dine right over the cozy & private Sonoma creek . A lovely setting for rowdy hikers. Great fresh & organic food & more. Not expensive.
Bring good hiking shoes, hat, camera, a little sunscreen, etc. I'll supply water, juice, tea, trail bars, snacks, gourmet fruit & nut packs, energy drinks, hiking poles, car pooling, & WINE.
NOTE: We meet & park in the North lot past the Big water Wheel. Look for Yeti's restaurant sign on the road.
This can be a very long and fun day on the day before Fall starts.
More info later.
