Sonoma Valley "Haunted Cemetary & Wine Hike" !

The last time we were out here was in Spring.  It is the easiest of all the hikes.  I just attended a (night) haunted tour of historical sites in the town of Sonoma.  Very interesting & a bit scary for some.

But we will be in the sunshine.  We will meet in the General Vallejo Home lot at the above address.  Our hike starts from here.  We head along a creek & enter woodlands & hike gradually up to a clifftop overlook. From here we can view parts of "The Valley of the Moon". Our gradual descent takes us thru the haunted & very old cemetary.

This place holds the only participant(veteran) from the Revolutionary war that is laid to rest in all of California.   The grave has a plaque with 1787 on it.  I hope I can find it again ?

We will return to the General Vallejo Home for our wine picnic & optional Docent led tour.  The picnic area has us next to a turtle & koi fish pond.

After lunch we have the option to walk into the downtown (Sonoma) Square & see all the other historical sites & wine taste to your hearts galore.

I'll have passes for most of the wine locations. The rest of the day is yours to explore or shop or whatever you wish.

I'll also supply: Water, Juice, Coffee, tea, Energy Drinks, Soda, Snacks, Trail bars, Gourmet Fruit & Nut packs & Wine (at lunch).

A pretty great deal for only $25. NOTE:  Remember to bring your lunch.!!!

The after event dinner option is always available.  Always a lot of fun.

Directions:  I would GPS the meetup location.  Look for the long tree lined driveway by third street West & East Spain Street.  It heads towards the hills.  There is a big sign posted at the driveway entrance.  It is about 4 blks. West of the Downtown Square on Spain st.

I'm more of a walker than hiker, does anyone know actual miles for the first part of the day?

    Tom, are dogs allowed?

My German Shepherd is well trained. He's very smart and very loving. I suggest that you get yourself one. Because if dogs are allowed, I will bring my partner in crime with me to this hike.

Sorry Lucy. No dogs or bikes allowed. But the Sat hike is very dog friendly. I had a great G.Shepherd for 15 years. Best dog I ever had. Looked just like Rin Tin Tin.
