Secular Humanist, Atheist, & Pansy ~ as in "J'ai pensee, alors je suis!" (not the best translation of the phrase).
Have long been skeptical of things, but I'm new to the movement. I spent years shaking off remnants of my Mormon upbringing so I could think more rationally. Now I want to be among other like-minded individuals. Can't say I'm a true skeptic, but I lean that way.
An atheist with agnostic leanings; I mean, who really knows for sure? I just don't buy anything I've heard so far on the topic of god or religion.
Not to want to draw attention to myself (qui? moi?) it is interesting you are a francophile. Still the No destination of tourist. Ever since Louis XIV I guess. But keep in touch (Sutheral at gmail)
FYI, our monthly meeting is this Sat, July 27th 11am @ CSUF room KHS 160. Please contact Phyllis for more information~ Colette
Hi DB, see you at the GIANT NYE Super Singles Social Dance Party!
Hi DB, I believe I have your jacket by mistake. I wore a very similar black leather jacket to the party. Please send me your personal email and I will give you my phone# so we can make arrangements on getting it back to you. So sorry.
Welcome. Looks like you're having fun.
Hi, DB. You asked how Mahayana Buddhism, materialism, and atheism are compatible. The short answer is that Buddhism is at its core an atheistic or agnostic tradition, and its analysis of the constituent parts of the universe is compatible with materialism. There are variations on these issues among some Buddhists and among some Buddhist schools of thought, but the original texts and teachings are largely in line with materialistic atheism.
Greetings fellow Salsa Lover, DB! My name is Victoria and I host SoCal Speed Dating meetup... we are hosting a Salsa Style Speed Dating event on Friday 8/31, and would love to have you there! Please check out our meetup at www.meetup.com/socalspeedating/ Hope to see you there!
Hi DB. Thank you for adding us to your list of meetups. Within the past week, we have had a design presentation, went to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and saw this year's Best Foreign Film. We are an active group and I am sure you will find an interesting event. Jonna
hey DB- thanks for being the first former Mormon to join the group (besides a few of my friends that aren't on meetup yet). As the group forms, stay alert for meetups and such. Feel free to upload any funny ex-mormonism thoughts, experiences, and whatever else unique to you
