I'm sure there are many members of BYS who live in south OC and would like a more local venue for talking about the issues we are concerned about. How many BS members would like to attend a monthly south county meetup formerly called South OC Brights?

I would be interested in attending events in south Orange County. I definitely think Backyard Skeptics South sounds better than "South OC Brights".

I would be very happy to be able to meet
up with fellow skeptics in the south county. I'm just not sure how many we'll find.

I'm sure there are several skeptics in south county. Hell, I was shocked to find this group in my own backyard, Villa Park, the bastion of religious and political conservatism in the OC!

Jennifer: Villa Park is an island in north county. I'm sure south county has a much wider expanse, number, and fervor of religious and political conservatism. Heck, we've got two very large Rick Warren compounds down here. We win hands down wink.

I would like south county meetups as well, but I think the term "Bright" is outdated. I prefer secularists to skeptics anyway. Even a theist can comfortably be secularist assuming they treat their metaphysical beliefs as the fun thoughts that they are rather than determine most of their behavior by them.
