Astronomy Night Star Party at the Pier

What could be more fun than observing amazing objects through powerful telescopes by the seaside? Bring your friends or family to astronomy night and find out! We’ll start our tour of the night sky with close-up views of a lovely first quarter moon. Craters, mountains and ancient lava beds await discovery at the eyepiece of powerful telescopes provided by our hard-working volunteer astronomers. Next we’ll visit the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter, to explore its interesting cloud bands and “Galilean” moons. Later in the evening we will explore the best double stars, star clusters and nebulae the winter constellations have to offer. If you have never seen deep space objects through a big telescope, this is your chance to be amazed. Seal Beach Astronomy Nights are co-hosted by our favorite local astronomy buff, Michael Beckage!

If you have a telescope, feel free to bring it to the star party. You don’t have to be an expert and it’s rewarding to share anything you know with someone else. The star parties are great for kids of all ages and best of all provide serious entertainment at an unbeatable price. (Free, that is!)

Great views of Saturn and its rings, and of Jupiter and its 3 largest moons. And my Google Sky Map app was a big hit!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
